NEW CLIMBING CRAG DEVELOPED NEAR PAKLENICA NATIONAL PARK

20. May 2025 Local news News

A new sport climbing crag has been bolted just outside Paklenica National Park, adding 25 fresh routes to Croatia’s climbing map. Local climbers from Zadar and Split collaborated over the past year to equip the limestone walls, offering grades from 5a to 8a.

The initiative, led by the Velebit Climbing Club, was partially funded by a regional tourism board aiming to promote sustainable adventure tourism. “We wanted to create something for all skill levels, with good access and minimal impact on nature,” said project leader Luka Marić.

The area, known as “Mala Sjenica,” offers a mix of slab and vertical climbs, with easy approach trails and natural shade. A topo is expected to be released by the end of the month.
