CLIMBING BEYOND LIMITS: ANA PETROVIĆ’S VERTICAL JOURNEY

27. May 2025 People

Ana Petrović, a visually impaired climber from Slovenia, is proving that limits exist only in the mind.

Ana lost her vision as a child, but that didn’t stop her from discovering a deep passion for climbing. She first tried it at a local gym with a friend and was instantly hooked. At first, every movement was a challenge, but she quickly developed her own way of reading the wall—by touch, memory, and body awareness. Ana now trains regularly, both on artificial walls and real rock. She uses verbal guidance from her partner or coach and trusts her hands and feet completely. What most climbers “see,” Ana feels. Her calm presence and confident moves often surprise those watching her climb. She says climbing helps her stay focused, strong, and independent. Competing in para-climbing events has also brought her to the international stage. Still, Ana’s favorite moments are the quiet ones—reaching the top, listening to the wind, and feeling the texture of the rock. Her story reminds us that climbing is not just about vision, but about trust, passion, and heart.
